Working one to one,over time.
Long-term, psychodynamic therapy for what you've been carrying, the patterns that keep repeating, and what you're longing for instead.
A space
to slow down.
Most people arrive with something they've carried for a while. Many have spent years trying to make sense of it by themselves. You don't have to name it precisely to begin.
People come to therapy with many different concerns, but beneath those concerns are often similar longings. You may feel stuck, disconnected, or find yourself repeating patterns you can't seem to change. What you're longing for is usually something more: to understand why you feel the way you do, to feel safer in your body, to trust yourself more fully.
It's a relationship with room in it. The patterns beneath the surface become possible to look at, along with what your mind and nervous system have been trying to protect all along.
Sometimes knowing something
needs to change is enough.
People
make sense.
People make sense. That's one of the beliefs that guides my work. Even the parts of you that feel anxious, critical, overwhelmed, or shut down usually developed for good reasons. Rather than trying to get rid of those parts, I help you understand them with curiosity and compassion. They no longer have to work so hard.
We work at the pace your nervous system can metabolize. Some sessions are more reflective, helping us understand the patterns, relationships, and experiences that have shaped you. As you tell your story, I'm listening not only to what you're saying, but for what may be happening beneath the surface.
My work is grounded in a psychodynamic foundation, with Attachment-Focused EMDR and Somatic Experiencing woven in when they're the right fit. Not every session needs to be EMDR. More often than not, we move between these approaches as the work unfolds.
I like to begin right away.
iA first conversation
A brief phone call, no charge, to hear what's bringing you in. Even during that first conversation I usually begin to get a sense of how I think we should approach the work.
iiThe first session
We begin with getting to know you: what brings you here, what you've been carrying, and what you hope will be different. I'll also ask how you'll know therapy is working. What would tell you something has changed? The answer is different for everyone, and it becomes one of the things that guides our work together.
iiiThe work itself
I like to begin working right away. My hope is that you leave each session with something meaningful: a new understanding, a shift in perspective, or simply a different way of holding what brought you in.
ivWhat changes
People are often surprised that we're not simply talking about what happened. We're beginning to understand why certain patterns keep showing up, and what they've been holding in place. As that becomes clearer, you may find yourself relating to yourself, and to the people you love, with more compassion and more choice.
If something here resonates.
I'm accepting new individual clients. We start with a brief, free phone call. It's an opportunity to ask any questions and a way to feel whether we're a fit.
