The practicalquestions.
The things worth knowing before a first call.
We'll begin with you, your story, what brings you here, and what feels most important. From there, we'll follow whatever feels like the next right step.
The honest answer is that it depends. Every person and every nervous system is different. My hope is that you'll leave even your first session with something you didn't know before, understand something differently, or feel a shift that lets you know we're moving in the right direction. From there, we'll let the work unfold at the pace that's right for you.
EMDR is a way of helping the brain and nervous system process experiences that haven't had a chance to fully resolve. Many people find that memories become less distressing, old patterns begin to loosen, and they feel more present in their lives. If EMDR is part of our work together, I'll explain everything along the way.
You don't. While we'll understand what you've been through, you don't have to relive or recount every painful moment for healing to occur.
People worry they'll become overwhelmed by their emotions or lose control. In reality, EMDR is a collaborative process. We move at a pace that feels manageable, and you're in control the entire time. My job is to help your brain and nervous system process experiences safely, not overwhelm them.
No. I use it with people working through childhood trauma, relationship trauma, anxiety, grief, panic, and the accumulation of experiences that continue to echo into the present. Often, it's not one event that leaves the deepest imprint, but many experiences over time.
Those are tools we use during parts of the process, but they aren't EMDR itself. EMDR is a comprehensive psychotherapy with a thoughtful, structured approach. Before we ever begin processing, I want to understand who you are, how you came to be where you are today, and what's happening in your life now. Together, we'll identify where the work needs to begin, prepare your nervous system, and move at a pace that feels right for you.
Both. I see clients in person at my office in Brentwood, 12301 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 416, Los Angeles, CA 90025, and online via secure video anywhere in California and New York.
I don't bill insurance directly. I'm an out-of-network provider, and I can give you a superbill, an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. It's worth asking your plan what they reimburse for out-of-network mental health care.
Fees depend on the kind of work and the length of session. I'm glad to talk it through on a first call so you have a clear picture before we begin.
I ask for 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice are charged in full, since that time is held for you.
We start with a brief, free phone call. It's a chance to hear what's bringing you in, and even in that first conversation I usually begin to get a sense of how I'd approach the work.
Or give me a call at 310-709-3973.
If something here resonates.
We start with a brief, free phone call. It's an opportunity to ask any questions and a way to feel whether we're a fit.
